[0:00] Hey there everyone and welcome to firearm payments 101 brought to you by TacticalPay. Now, if you're running an online store for your FFL or other firearms related business, your choice of shopping cart platform matters a lot. Not all ecommerce platforms are friendly to firearm sales and choosing the wrong one could leave you stuck with a beautiful website that can't legally or functionally process orders. Okay, let's start with the apps that clearly do not allow firearms sales. Now, Shopify is one of the most popular shopping cart platforms and Shopify payments is their integrated payment gateway. Shopify payments expressively prohibits the sale of firearms, holsters, and similar accessories on their platform. So if you plan to use Shopify, you'll need to integrate an external payment gateway with a firearm friendly payments company. Next, we have Squarespace and Wix. These are two very popular ecommerce platforms. [1:05] But they have firm restrictions. So if you're selling guns or certain other firearm accessories, these platforms are off limits as well. Alright, now let's talk about the good news. Platforms that do support firearm related businesses and offer a lot more flexibility. First up is WooCommerce, which is one of the most commonly used shopping cart platforms for FFLs. And because it's an open source plugin built for WordPress, WooCommerce doesn't impose centralized content restrictions like Shopify does. That means you're free to sell firearms and accessories, as long as you're following applicable federal and state laws, and of course, using a firearm friendly payment processor. Next up is Magento, now known as Adobe Commerce. And just like WooCommerce, it's an open source platform that offers a ton of customization and doesn't ban firearm sales outright. Magento is more enterprise level, so it's a great fit if you're operating a high volume online store or need complex backend integrations. Now, that being said, not every firearms business wants to host their own shopping cart. Some sellers choose to list their products on GunBroker, which functions more like a firearm specific auction marketplace. It's a familiar platform for gun buyers, and it can simplify compliance and logistics, especially for sellers who don't want to manage their own ecommerce backend. [2:35] So the key takeaway is this. If you're selling firearms online, stick with platforms that are open source or self hosted. These give you the control and freedom to run your business legally and without sudden policy changes disrupting your store. Oh, and just as important, pair your cart with a payment gateway that actually supports firearms businesses. Even the best platform won't help you if your processor shuts you down for violating their terms. And that's where we come in. At TacticalPay, we specialize in payment solutions for FFLs and other firearms industry businesses.
